Hi,

The following steps might be helpful:

1.       Right-click on taskbar and select Start Task Manager.
2.       Go to the Processes tab.
3.       Right-click on the process you want then select Set Priority then switch it to what you want.

I would like to PERMANENTLY assign the appropriate priority to a goven program

Right click the shortcut, select Properties and add the following to the beginning of the Target box:

%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start /high

As an example, a shortcut to notepad will look like this normally:

%windir%\system32\notepad.exe

Adding the above will make it:

%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start /high %windir%\system32\notepad.exe

This should work for most programs, but If there are any problems, you will need to change the priority manually.

This does not work a the path in my case is between quotes

"C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2009b\bin\matlab.exe"

i guess it is because the path contain long names

how can we go around that ?

It shouldn't be an issue...if you can't set it by the target, have you tried running a batch file?
i would see if you could figure something out with the option David suggested.

You have spaces in your file path to your matlab.exe

If i'm not mistaken you probably get a command prompt window, but your application doesn't start.

You need to add a name after the start command such as this:

C:WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start "applicationName" /high "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2009b\bin\matlab.exe"

Good day, is there not a way to make a certain process (explorer) hi priority permanently with out any additional software to be installed that is not microsoft corp. It must keep the hi Priority after reboot. is there not a way to integrate it to the Motherboard Bios?

Sandeep, the questions asks about a "permanent" solution. What you provided is only for the life of the application loaded to memory. When closed and reloaded, your instruction steps need to be repeated (and remembered to be repeated).
