The Skywalker saga is complete, the Clone Wars animated series has come to an cease (sort of), Boba Fett is giving us a Baby Yoda break between seasons of The Mandalorian , and Taika Waititi is next in line for a Star Wars movie — for at present. And now that we're exploring the adventures of Obi-Wan during his time on Tatooine, there's never been a better time to catch back up on all things Star Wars. Disney Plus has every pic and prove that'southward currently catechism, which should make things easy.

But how to spotter it? Later on George Lucas released his prequel trilogy, Star Wars fans debated the social club in which to devour the series. Now, with blithe and live-action spinoffs, the "proper" way to watch the Star Wars saga is even more complicated. With all that in mind, here are a few different viewing orders to guide you, whether you're a longtime fan looking to revisit the films and shows or a newcomer in need of a Star Wars crash course.

This viewing club doesn't crave much explanation. This is how the events of the Star Wars universe happened on the BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) / ABY (After the Battle of Yavin) timeline. It starts with the primeval events and moves forwards in time from at that place. A couple of these may happen simultaneously, but that's non our fault.

Taking a bit of inspiration from the net-famous Ernst Rister order — originally taken from a now-deleted forum post — this listing uses A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back as setup for the prequel movies and puts more than focus on Luke Skywalker. Viewing the movies and shows this manner makes sure that yous know where his family unit came from.

This gild diverges from the Skywalker story between Revenge of the Sith and Render of the Jedi, but it gives you a much improve context for Anakin'south heroics during the Clone Wars and sets up his redemptive moment of siding with Luke over Emperor Palpatine. As you become into the new trilogy, it continues to put Luke at the center.

  1. Star Wars: A New Hope
  2. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
  3. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
  4. Star Wars: Assail of the Clones
  5. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the animated movie)

Watching Star Wars in ... galaxy brain order

We recommend this playlist for those who've seen all of Star Wars plenty times that they want to mix things up with a truly weird feel. This doesn't really complement any one grapheme or storyline so much as the series as a whole. This order should assistance you catch all the small references from 1 movie or show and connect them to the next — though yous'll probably still miss a few.

In the first three movies, the focus is on the Rebellion. Then, at its lowest moment, we switch sides to Anakin to see how he became Darth Vader and how the Empire gained command of the galaxy. After that, we see the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi, and the backwash in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.

The concluding weird slice of this order is repositioning the new trilogy with Han as a more fundamental figure. Nosotros see his family unit struggle in The Force Awakens, so catch up on his backstory with Solo. This order turns Luke giving Han'due south lucky dice to Leia in The Final Jedi into a slightly more of import moment, and makes information technology clear that this is Luke attempting to mend some of the pain he brought to Han'due south family unit.

Note: If you want to go all the way on this order, we recommend watching A New Hope up until the planning meeting for the Battle of Yavin. At that signal, swap to Rogue 1, watch the whole affair, so go dorsum to the balance of A New Hope. This fashion, Rogue 1 plays a little similar a heroic flashback for the Rebellion.

  1. Rogue I: A Star Wars Story
  2. Star Wars: A New Hope
  3. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Dorsum
  4. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
  5. Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
  6. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the animated movie)
  7. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (the animated series)
  8. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
  9. Star Wars: The Bad Batch
  10. Obi-Wan Kenobi
  11. Star Wars Rebels
  12. Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
  13. The Mandalorian flavour 1
  14. The Mandalorian season 2
  15. The Book of Boba Fett
  16. Star Wars Resistance flavor 1
  17. Star Wars: The Forcefulness Awakens
  18. Solo: A Star Wars Story
  19. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
  20. Star Wars Resistance flavor ii
  21. Star Wars: The Ascent of Skywalker
